As part of the latter’s A to ZX celebration of its ZX series of sneakers, the Berlin-based artistic group deadHYPE has teamed up with adidas. The famous ZX 8000 with luxury purple leather panelling on the top has been reworked by deadHYPE. Co-branded detailing is seen throughout, as the group literally stamps its mark on the silhouette by removing the iconic Three Stripe branding from adidas in favor of a leather panel in blank.

Reworked to feature a predominantly purple color scheme, the adidas ZX 8000. The top of the sneaker, which also features a purple TPU heel counter, is dressed in premium leather. The marking of deadHYPE is seen on the sides of the foot, on the insole and on the tips of the lace. A strong, luxury leather panel has replaced the Three Stripe branding of adidas.

The sneaker was pre-released on July 9 at a special drive-in cinema event co-hosted by Overkill in Berlin, as well as on July 10 at the adidas Originals store in Berlin, before seeing this week’s wider release.

Accompanying the pre-release, deathHYPE founder Bernard Koomson shot a lookbook featuring Berlin-based refugees at the moment. The lookbook was filmed in Berlin’s Kreuzberg neighborhood, in and around Görlitzer Park. “We wanted to highlight the often overlooked Berlin street culture, as they embody collective style,” Koomson tells Highsnobiety.
